To me, prayer is more than just praying on our knees with our eyes closed. I like to think of prayer as fellowship with God. We can pray with our eyes open claiming Bible promises and/or journaling. We can actually pray without ceasing by lifting our hearts to heaven as we talk, walk, work, play, or turn over in our sleep. Think of it as spontaneous communication from our heart as different experiences manifest throughout the day. Mind you, I am not talking about mindless chatter, or “vain repetitions” that would be a waste of God’s time. I’m referring to being much in prayer, continually in prayer, and praying without ceasing to keep our mind on heavenly things and protect ourselves from being overcome by the world’s allurements.
