Let Him Guide and Direct Your Pathway

God has a plan for each of us to fill, since He created us for a particular purpose. What honor it would bring Him if we would allow Him to fulfill that plan in us. He knows us better than we know ourselves. It is His joy to give us the desires of our heart. He delights in our happiness. If we would let Him guide and direct our pathway without resistance, or without first taking things into our own hands and creating problems for Him to resolve, we would experience more fullness of joy. “The ultimate object of our prayers should be for us to expect God’s leading and to allow His will to be done for us, with us, or through us.” Praying in the YES of God pg 38

Desiring to Know the Heart of God

We pray because we desire to know the heart of God and to understand His will. We claim promises to be one with Him and His purposes. We pray because it opens our eyes to the unfailing, unconditional love of God, and because in turn we learn to love Him. It is a foretaste of heaven and plants within us the desire for eternal life.” Praying in the YES of God pg 38

The Absolute Necessity of Prayer

Our Savior exemplifies the absolute necessity of prayer. As we examine His prayer life we will increase our understanding of the components of prayer and the necessity of an ongoing commune with God, in Jesus’ name. So important to Him was prayer, often He would go without food or sleep in order to spend time conversing with His Father. He knew the effectiveness of His work depended upon receiving instruction for the day, and the guidance of the Spirit.

No matter how busy our Lord was, He always took time to pray. Multitudes would follow and wait while Jesus took time to be alone to listen to His Father. But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray.43 Jesus prayed and preached quoting from Old Testament scriptures. We, like Jesus, are to Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. Praying in the YES of God Pg 53

Personal Worship Time with God

Our personal worship time with God should include time in confession. It should be a warning to us if we are not in the habit of repenting and confessing our sins. God wants us to be specific in our requests and in our confessions. We should go before the Father and repent, asking Him to reveal our blind spots, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. “He waits with unwearied love to hear the confessions of the wayward to accept their penitence.” Praying in the YES of God Pg 79

Faith and Acceptance

“As God’s Holy Spirit brings to life the spiritual powers of your mind, you begin to see how evil and strong sin is. You feel the guilt and sorrow it brings, and you hate it. You feel that sin has separated you from God. Its power has made you a slave. The more you try to escape, the more you know that you cannot help yourself. You see that your life has been filled with selfishness and sin. Your heart is unclean and your desires are not pure. You want to be forgiven, to be clean, to be set free. But what can you do to be one with God and to be like Him?

You need peace—Heaven’s forgiveness and peace and love. Money cannot buy that peace. Study will not give it. The mind cannot find it. Being wise will not provide it. You can never hope to receive this peace by your own work and power.

God offers His peace to you as a gift. It will cost you nothing!—Isaiah 55:1. It is yours if you will reach out your hands and take it. The Lord says, You are stained red with sin, but I will wash you as clean as snow. Although your stains are deep red, you will be as white as wool.—Isaiah 1:18. I will give you a new heart and a new mind.—Ezekiel 36:26.

You have confessed your sins and chosen to put them out of your life. You have decided to give yourself to God. Now go to Him and ask Him to wash away your sins. Ask Him to give you a new heart, a new mind. Then believe that He does this, because He has promised. Jesus taught this lesson when He was on the earth. You must believe that you receive the gift God promises and that it is yours.” From Growing in the YES of God, pg. 53
