Continual, consistent, sincere prayer on behalf of the oppressed can come only from a heart of love. Moses exemplified the epitome of love when he interceded for the rebellious Israelites. He told God “But now, If you will, forgive their sin– and if not, please blot me out from Your book which you have written“. (Exodus 32:21-32) What love! It is beyond my comprehension that one could love so much, he would sacrifice eternity with our God for the sake of others.
Someone once said, “When we see our Lord coming, there is only one regret we might have — that we have not taken the time to intercede and minister on behalf of those whom God has given us. My prayer for us is: Soften our hearts Lord Jesus, and help us to die of our selfishness and lack of concern for those suffering around us. Help us invent in the investment that pays the greatest dividend by spending time on our knees, interceding on behalf of Your children, action in reaching out as we listen and follow Your divine instructions. One day may You say to us, “Well done, good and faithful servant; thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of the Lord” (Matthew 25:23 KJV) (Praying in the YES of God – page 170-171)
